Homemade Potato Chips is fun and easy. At home, we don’t cook chips very often, so when we do, we want the real deal. So let us tell you how to make the perfect homemade potato chips – if you’re going to do it, do it right.
You will need
- Large bowl
- Deep fat fryer
Ingredients
Serves 4
- 5 large maris pipers potatoes, washed and sliced paper-thin
- 1 litre (1 3/4 pint) repressed oil for frying
- Sea salt
Preparation Method

- Place potato slices into a large bowl of cold water. Drain, and rinse, then refill the bowl with water, and add the salt. Let the potatoes soak in the salty water for 40 minutes. Drain, then rinse and drain again.
- Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 160˚C (320 degrees Fahrenheit). Fry potato slices in small batches. Once they start turning golden, remove and drain on paper towels. Season with additional salt if desired.
